Governed Self-Service Jira Configuration

Grab project configs from main Instance and store in Insight of dedicated service desk Instance. Create Request types for automation and map projects, fields, issue types etc. which stored in Insight.
Derive an execution ticket in a different project on service desk instance which will trigger a jenkins job, pointing to an custom REST Endpoint done with Scriptrunner on some Staging Instance. If change is approved by User in original Ticket, derive a new execution ticket for change on Production Instance.

Configure the configuration stored in Insight to only show the configuration (fields, issue types, …) that you want the users to pick. Allow those for new configs and allow all configs for deletion requets. → Everything will slowly move towards your governed configurations.

  • Different requirements for authentication on enterrprise level; not fully supported in Jira; needs separate apps for access enforcement

  • Adoption of Atlassian tools requires focus on what is possible in the context, do small iterations and think creative about boundaries

  • Value Stream Metrics needs to be understood and correctly interpreted

12:00 - 13:00
